Banana Bread
Sitting here and indulging
Coffee, so hot and sweet
Banana bread, spongy and spiced
I think of the times when things were simple
Life so clear and less rigid
People so true and protective
How I miss those days
Quiet time with self
How alone we must feel
Longing to belong
Furniture began to have voices
Insects are no longer harmful
The sound of rain
Soothing to my lonely ears
Watching as the bushes begin to dance
And it all becomes emotional
Letting out its pain
Then lightens effortlessly
The time to prepare this bread
Using ripe bananas
Nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, and brown sugar
Coming together separately
Creation from its celebration of unity
I sit here and indulge.
